Thursday Lab Meeting — Allele-Specific Methylation Analysis in the Nanopore WGS dataset 🧬
At this week’s Thursday lab meeting, Ayoub presented his ongoing analysis of allele-specific methylations (ASM) in 48 Korean genomes profiled by Oxford Nanopore long-read whole-genome sequencing.
Leveraging the CpG methylation signals natively available from ONT data, Ayoub walked us through his established pipeline for phasing methylation onto haplotypes and identifying loci with allelic imbalance across the cohort.
He shared new findings from the dataset, including novel ASM regions as well as validation of previously reported loci, illustrating how integrating methylation and haplotype information sharpens the resolution at which regulatory variation can be pinpointed in a population-scale Korean dataset.
Thanks Ayoub for the interesting presentation, and to everyone who joined the lively discussion afterward — looking forward to seeing where this work leads! 🚀
