2026
At this week’s Thursday lab meeting, Ayoub presented his ongoing analysis of allele-specific methylations (ASM) in 48 Korean genomes profiled by Oxford Nanopore long-read whole-genome sequencing.
On April 23, 2026, our lab attended the 71st Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics (KSMGG), held at the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall in Seoul. The program offered a rich overview of where medical genetics is heading — from prime editing-based functional variant evaluation and brain somatic mutations in psychiatric disease, to multi-omics approaches for metabolic complexity, multi-center WGS pipelines for ending the diagnostic odyssey in rare diseases, and AI-driven liquid biopsy and precision immuno-oncology. We are especially proud that Dr. Yoon delivered a talk in Session II-B (Clinical Translation of Genomic Data: Bench-to-Bedside in Rare Disease Research), titled “From Sequence Extension to Disease: Integrative Functional Prediction of Stop-loss Variants,” building on our recently published work. Many thanks to the KSMGG organizing committee and to all the colleagues who joined us for the lively discussions — we came back energized and full of new ideas to carry into our ongoing work! 🚀
We’re excited to have him join our lab and look forward to the impact his computational skills will bring to our research. We are especially excited about the contributions he will make through data science, machine learning, and computational analysis in our ongoing projects.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Moon-Young Song to our lab as our first postdoctoral researcher! 🎉
We are excited to announce that the first paper from our lab has been officially accepted for publication in Nucleic Acids Research (NAR) 🎉
2025
We’re excited to welcome Ayoub EL Bakiallah to our lab as the first intern! 🎉 Welcome to the team, Ayoub!
I am happy to share the first post in the PGM Lab.
